Had a horrible experience at Grand Hotel du Nord. First of all, we arrived at around 23h30, and waited for about 30 minutes for the receptionist (suppose to be present 24h) to come out from hiding and check us in. When he finally arrived, although friendly, couldn't find our reservation. So, he gave us a 'free' room by chance, which when we got up to it, wasn't free at all. Then, on the second try, our second 'unoccupied' room was also occupied. Imagine that, we were getting keys to someone else's room, with their belongings, just like that. Finally, he managed to find us an empty room, almost one hour after we arrived. After a 600 km journey, that was quite frustrating. When in the room, it was probably 10 degrees, old, uncomfortable, and
it was well situated in a busy part of Reims, there were many bars and restaurants
Upon entering the hotel as you progressed further through the floors and corridors the condition of the hotel became more shabby, our family room was in a very por condition, walls were faded in differing shades, ceiling showed signed of damage which were not repaired, there were rusty iron bed supports providing a support for a make shift bed side table and the bathroom was in a dirty condition
Right in the heart of Reims we were there on a Friday night and the pedestrianised area was buzzing with evening drinkers and eaters. Found free car parking and we were entertained by a brass band late into the night!
excellent service, large room for a family, good breakfast
Only the location, Reims city.
No sound insulation - you can hear your neighbours from left, right and above... Courtains are not wide enough to prevent the floodlight from the facade and teared. Brakefast is squeezed in the corridor of the fourth floor, dirty tables, frugal offer,....
it was cheap for the time of year. It was on the main high street near the restaurants and shops.
It was a dark interior. the toilet leaked and the room overlooked the working parts of hotel that was noisy
Very good value for money (I had a discount), quiet (on the backyard), nice staff, well located on the main square (which is pedestrian).
10 mins walk from Reims cathedral. around 20 restraunts within 5 mins walk.
no private parking, no internet in rooms, breakfast is not attractive but expensive, hotel makes pre-authorisation of 1 night stay (blocks money on your card at booking time)
Very good situated,comfortable rooms
nothing but location and reasonable bedroom but not exclusive as stated
mis.informed re parking there was none,
I have stayed here before, it is perfectly located for a stopover on the way south from the Channel Tunnel and is in a good central location with underground parking right outside the hotel. If you want a meal out, the Place Drouet d'Erlon is packed with places to eat, so for location it is hard to beat.
Avoid the breakfasts, eat yours in a local bar.
Best thing about the hotel was its location in the city centre, although it could be a bit noisy at night despite double glazing being fitted.
The en suite was poorly maintained with the sink tap dripping and the toilet being badly stained and flushing erratically.
Center of the city
The room was old and poorly soundproofed. The "Hemmingway" bar was 50 meters down the street and loud into the night. Parking instructions need to be clarified as one must drive int the pedestrian zone and down under the area.
We stayed at this hotel because it is close to the station for an early departure. Breakfast area available to make tea/coffee
Noise!!!! The walls between the rooms are so thin you can hear "everything" from the next room. Rooms facing the street are also very noisy
Having visited a number of "budget" hotels on my recent trip around europe, this was definitely the worst. The noise and poor state of rooms/hotel was what let this place down.
